Why work with Cruz Gold & Associates

  • Your consultation is with the attorney. The free consultation is with Zachary Gold, who leads the firm.
  • The asylum interview on Northchase Drive. Before the interview at the Houston Asylum Office, we go over the written application with you, because the officer checks your testimony against it.

More than 90 Google reviews of our Ewing office average 5.0 stars. Two of them:

“He helped us prepare for our upcoming Stokes interview, advised us on additional evidence to submit, and attended the interview with us.”

Amal Ahmed, Google review

“One thing I really appreciated is that he will never pressure you into doing something just to take your money.”

Houston's USCIS offices and immigration courts

Green card and citizenship interviews for the Houston area are held at the USCIS Houston Field Office. Asylum interviews take place at the USCIS Houston Asylum Office, 16855 Northchase Drive. On August 18, 2026, USCIS estimated 14 months for a citizenship application (Form N-400) at the Houston field office; our N-400 processing time guide shows the figures we checked.

Before an interview at the Houston field office, we go through the questions you are likely to be asked and the documents to bring.

Removal cases in the area are heard at four immigration courts: Houston Jefferson Street (500 Jefferson Street), Houston Greenspoint Park (16800 Greenspoint Park Drive), Houston S. Gessner Road (8701 S. Gessner Road) and Conroe (806 Hilbig Road).

A Notice to Appear names the court. The hearing date is often printed on it, but sometimes it comes later, in a separate notice from the court. A missed hearing can lead to an order of removal, so keep every notice you receive and check the date on each one.

Family, work and protection cases

Family

We file petitions for spouses, parents and children, marriage-based green cards, K-1 fiancé(e) visas and adjustment of status for relatives already in the United States. When an earlier overstay or entry stands in the way, we prepare I-601 and I-601A waivers. Once a green card holder qualifies, we file for citizenship.

Work and investment

For Houston employers and the professionals they hire from abroad, we prepare H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN and E-2 petitions, and employment-based green cards: the EB-2 National Interest Waiver, EB-1A and EB-3 with PERM labor certification.

Asylum and removal defense

An asylum application generally has to be filed within one year of arriving in the United States. In removal proceedings before the Houston courts we request bond, apply for relief such as asylum or cancellation of removal, and appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals when a decision goes against our client.

Questions from Houston clients

How much does an immigration lawyer cost in Houston?

Most green card, citizenship and family petitions have a flat fee. Cases at the Houston and Conroe immigration courts are billed by the hour, and government filing fees are separate. Our guide to immigration lawyer costs lists typical ranges.

Do you offer a free consultation in Houston?

Yes. The first 20-minute consultation is free. Book it in the calendar on this page or call the Houston office at (832) 924-7490.

How long does citizenship take in Houston?

About 14 months for an N-400 at the Houston field office, by the USCIS estimate we checked on August 18, 2026. Our N-400 processing time guide explains what can move that date.

How does an immigration bond work in Houston?

When a person held by ICE qualifies, an immigration judge can set a bond, and the law puts the minimum at $1,500. Whether a bond hearing is possible depends on how the person entered the United States and on their record. Call (832) 924-7490 as soon as you know where your relative is held.

Can I apply for asylum without a lawyer?

Yes, the law allows it. The officer at the Houston Asylum Office, or the judge in court, compares your written application with your testimony, and the one-year filing deadline applies in most cases. A lawyer gathers the evidence and prepares you for the questions.
